People came from far and wide, filling St John’s Church, Tatworth to bursting point, in celebration of the New Ministry of the Reverend Philip Butcher as The Rector of The Two Shires Benefice. Officiating at this uplifting celebration was The Right Reverend Ruth Worsley, Bishop of Bath and Wells with The Venerable Simon Hill, Archdeacon of Taunton and The Reverend Nigel Done, Rural Dean. The service was attended by Clergy and The Lay Chair from The Ilminster Deanery, The Mayor of Chard, Garry Shortland and The Mayoress, Jude Addicott, members of Philip & Michelle’s family, parishioners from The Honiton Mission Community, The East Bristol Partnership and congregations from across the five parishes of the Benefice. Philip was presented to The Bishop by The Patron, Mr George Eyre and The Reverend Susan Roberts from The Honiton Mission. During the processes of Institution, Induction and Installation Philip was Licenced as Rector for the Two shires Benefice and he and his wife, The Reverend Michelle Butcher, were welcomed to the five parishes. The service was followed by an informal reception in the Church Hall where refreshments and a celebration cake were enjoyed by all. |
